It’s still not clear whether Ohioans will definitely vote in November on a plan to crack down on those two-week “payday” loans, but that’s not stopping both sides in the dispute from jockeying for position. WKSU’s Bill Cohen reports.

PHOENIX — Attorney General Terry Goddard said Tuesday that payday loans need to be outlawed because most Arizonans who use them don’t know when — or how — to stop.

A spokesman for the payday loan industry told The Herald News last week that actions such as that taken recently by the Joliet City Council to limit the numbers of payday loan stores occur regularly but have “not been detrimental to the industry.”
